Can I post a knife in the UK?

The law is changing in the UK on sending bladed items

Posted in Products

From May 2024 there are going to be changes to what you can send in the post via Royal Mail.

Some bladed items are restricted – here’s everything you need to know.

Unfortunately we cannot send our pocket knives, or razors overseas. We can only ship them within the UK, but from next month there will be some further restrictions.

Any blade that is classed as a weapon cannot be sent in the UK. These include items such as throwing knives, machetes, swords.

However it also means that from May 7th 2024 we will no longer be able to post open razors or folding razors in the UK or overseas.

The pocket knives we stock at Furbellow & Co are pocket knives – most are classed as EDC knives, or every day carries – this means knives that don’t need to have a specific purpose to be carried legally. Read more about what classes as an EDC here.

EDC pocket knives can be shipped in the UK, we will continue to send these via the Age Verified service, although this isn’t required via Royal Mail we feel it is our responsibility to ensure bladed items are not being purchased by under 18s.
