ArtSox – Sukiyagashi in the Eastern Capital
A little piece of nineteenth-century Japan for your sock drawer.
Utagawa Hiroshige’s Sukiyagashi in the Eastern Capital is part of his celebrated Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidōseries. The design captures an atmospheric Edo-period scene, with Hiroshige’s characteristic use of muted colours and carefully composed detail.
The artwork is knitted directly into the sock, preserving the layered landscape and subtle colour changes of the original print.
